Amidst a night of celebrations, a spaceship, crewed by those that were thought to be friends, invaded and took over the town. The townspeople were held hostage, and the ship's inhabitants began experimenting on them. Before the townspeople could figure out who the invaders were, the town was overrun with hideous monsters.
Among Us is a multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by Innersloth, a game studio based in Brooklyn, New York. The game is inspired by the party game Mafia and the science fiction horror film The Thing, taking place in a space-themed setting. The game takes place in a map or "room" and the Crewmates must identify the Impostors, eliminate them, and complete tasks around the map.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Among Us consists of two different types of roles, Crewmates and Impostors. The Crewmates are assigned tasks to complete throughout the map, while the Impostors aim to secretly sabotage and eliminate the Crewmates before they finish all their tasks. Crewmates win if all Impostors are ejected or if all tasks are completed, while Impostors win if the number of Impostors and Crewmates is equal, or if a critical sabotage remains unresolved.
The gameplay is composed of three rounds with four phases each. The first round is decided randomly and the subsequent rounds are chosen by the winner of the previous round. In the first phase, players vote to decide who is the Impostor and who is Crewmate. If an Impostor is not found, players vote to decide who is Crewmate. The second phase is the investigation phase. Here, players can accuse each other and vote to determine the Impostor. The third phase is the accusation phase. Here, Crewmates vote to eliminate the Impostor if they are found. The final phase is the voting phase. Here, Crewmates vote to either eliminate the Impostor or exonerate them.
Graphics
The graphics are in a space-themed setting and are composed of a dark, colorful and eerie atmosphere. The colors are often used to show the difference between Crewmates and Impostors. Crewmates are often in blue outfits with a blue glow emitting from their skin, while Impostors are often in red outfits with a red glow emitting from their skin.
Information on replayability
“Among Us keeps you on your toes, constantly guessing and changing your opinion on who’s who.” - Brian D.
Among Us includes a rotating roster of maps, so the game is never the same twice. The maps are new and fresh, so the players never know how the story will unfold.
