This update shines a spotlight on a previously unseen moment linked to Jurassic World: Rebirth, providing fans with an intriguing glimpse of what might have been altered during post-production.
In the film, a novel breed of altered dinosaurs emerged—a combination of Velociraptor and Pteranodon known as Mutadon. This creature performed similarly to the raptors from earlier installments, while the original Velociraptors appeared only briefly in the film’s midsection, ultimately overwhelmed by this new hybrid species.
Plans had initially allowed for the classic creatures to feature for a longer period during the final act. A removed segment—now available on the home release since today, August 5 on digital platforms—reveals a sequence where a pack of Velociraptors quietly pursues the surviving humans, only to retreat upon sensing a far larger predator advancing from the opposite direction.
A fan along the community shared the footage, noting that although it is a short clip and the creatures do not end up harming anyone (a first for this series), it delivers a pleasing look at the beloved animals and sets the stage with rising tension before the appearance of the D-Rex. The scene has sparked conversation among longtime enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
What’s your take on the debut of the Mutadons in this latest installment? Do you prefer the fresh twist or remain fond of the original Velociraptor portrayal?
