Deadpool and Wolverine's positions in Marvel's chronology have been established

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has delved into the realm of alternate realities, it has become increasingly challenging to maintain an understanding of the sequences and narratives in their respective universes. One of the most enigmatic developments is the anticipated team-up in the upcoming film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine. This project appears to be merging the narratives from Fox's Deadpool series with that of the MCU while also reintroducing Hugh Jackman's Wolverine character. Bearing this complexity in mind, the timing of the film's events is a burning question.

In a conversation with Total Film (credit to Collider), director Shawn Levy revealed, "It unfolds six years following the prior installment. Our protagonist finds himself inept at vehicle sales, resorting to peddling Blind Al's hypertension medication to pay the bills, and his cherished Vanessa is now with someone new."
This information clarifies that the film's story commences six years subsequent to the events of Deadpool 2. However, the speculation now turns to which incarnation of Wolverine will be featured? Are we encountering the Wolverine from the Fox X-Men saga, or is it a novel interpretation? Moreover, will he belong to the current, contemporary MCU, or does Deadpool find himself in a separate chronology?

Amidst a plethora of inquiries, it is expected that most, if not all, will find a resolution when the film premieres in theaters on July 26, 2024.
