TikTok Expands Ticket Sales Integration with Ticketmaster to New International Markets

TikTok's collaboration with Ticketmaster, initially established in the United States in August 2022, has grown to encompass 20 additional countries. This innovative partnership integrates event discovery and ticket purchasing within the TikTok app itself, streamlining the process for users who can now secure tickets without leaving the platform.

Users in various countries, including the UK, Ireland, Australia, Germany, France, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Spain, and Sweden, have gained access to this feature. This expansion allows local artists on TikTok to easily promote their live performances by linking directly to Ticketmaster within their posted videos, connecting with a broader audience that includes both longstanding fans and potential new followers.

The success stories of this partnership are reflected in noticeable ticketing campaigns from both rising talents and renowned artists. According to TikTok, there has been an impressive number of views, surpassing 2.5 billion, on videos that have harnessed the in-app features since the initial trial phase began.

Michael Kümmerle, responsible for Global Music Partnership Development at TikTok, shared that the direct ticket-buying feature on TikTok is set to transform the way artists reach out to ticket buyers, positioning it as a game-changer for live events on a global scale. The goal is to enhance the connection between fans and the artists and events they're passionate about, contributing to more value for artists at every stage of their careers and facilitating the expansion of their fanbases.

TikTok's alliance with Ticketmaster is not singular in its nature, as similar models have been adopted on other major platforms. Snapchat has created a matching system for users and nearby live events, YouTube enables users to discover Ticketmaster events on its watch pages, and Spotify offers personalized event recommendations to its users. These strategic partnerships reflect a growing trend of integrating live event ticketing into popular social and streaming platforms.
