Only three months have passed since Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic revealed the new Alone in the Dark would be released on October 25th, leading many to anticipate an announcement that the game had completed development. However, the contrary has occurred.
According to a press release, the launch of Alone in the Dark has been postponed until January 16th. Much like Remedy's delay of Alan Wake 2, Pieces has stated that this delay isn't only to allow more time for refinement, but also to dodge the competition from Alan Wake and Marvel's Spider-Man 2, both of which have release major releases lined up in the very crowded month of October:
"We will strategically shift Alone in the Dark's release date from the hectic October 2023 window (...) Our goal is to sidestep potential competition from Alan Wake's epic launch, as well as avoid clashing with the spectacle of cityscapes aglow from Spider-Man's graceful maneuvers."
