Previous Developers From Deviation Games Have Established A New Studio Under Sony's Partnership

PlayStation is said to have established a new studio with a team primarily composed of professionals who previously worked at Deviation Games.

One of the founders of Deviation Games, Jason Blundell, is believed to be playing a significant role in this nascent studio.

Regarding Blundell's participation, current insights remain uncertain, with much of the information still resting in speculation. Nonetheless, enthusiasts have been piecing together hints from various sources, including a past statement from Deviation's previous community manager. In December, they indicated they had taken up a role as a junior game designer at a PlayStation studio headed by Blundell.

No formal declaration has emerged from Sony concerning the whispers of this new studio's formation, but updates will be provided if any official communications are released.

Deviation Games came into being in 2022, established by former contributors to Treyarch and the Call of Duty franchise under the guidance of Jason Blundell and Dave Anthony. Despite its promising start, by eighteen months later, Blundell had left the company, and in May 2023, the studio announced it was parting with approximately 90 of its staff due to challenging circumstances that made these redundancies necessary. March 2024 saw the complete closure of the studio.

The total number of job reductions in the gaming sector for 2024 has reached 9,500. The prior year, 2023, estimated to have around 10,500 positions eliminated, following a loss of 8,500 roles in 2022.
