Bloober Team has recognized the necessity for growth following the release of The Medium, which steered them towards developing larger projects, including the remake of Silent Hill 2 and the anticipated Cronos: The New Dawn.

In a discussion with the media, Jacek Zieba, director and producer of Cronos, articulated that the 2021 launch of The Medium, a psychological horror adventure that received a Metascore of 71, marked a pivotal moment for the company. This prompted the studio to aspire towards grander and more innovative games. Zieba remarked on the clarity that emerged post-release, stating they realized the need to move in a new direction.

The team decided to conclude their chapter on adventure games, which included titles like Layers of Fear and Observer, characterized by their unique, experimental style with stationary camera techniques. The focus shifted to survival horror, with aspirations to create an entirely original experience that differentiated itself in terms of lore, world-building, and mechanics.

The release of the Silent Hill 2 remake served as a significant showcase for Bloober Team, illustrating their capabilities in producing a high-budget survival horror experience. It debuted on October 8 to favorable reviews and strong market performance. The studio is also open to the possibility of developing further titles within the Silent Hill universe, whether remakes or brand-new concepts.

Yet, the "game of our dreams" mentioned by Zieba refers to Cronos, a sci-fi survival horror narrative set against the backdrop of a harsh post-apocalyptic Poland in the 1980s.
