Square Enix is making clear its dedication to a multi-platform approach in the future. Reports from multiple sources indicate that the company has altered its strategy to move away from exclusive titles and to embrace multi-format releases, which will be advantageous for both Switch and Xbox users. In a discussion with 4Gamer, Naoki Yoshida, the producer behind both Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XVI, pointed out that the upcoming release of Fantasian Neo Dimension for Xbox exemplifies this new direction.
He expressed a desire for the game to reach a broader audience on various platforms, stating that the Xbox Series X/S version will be launched simultaneously alongside other versions. Yoshida emphasized the company's commitment to releasing more titles concurrently across platforms, marking this release as the first in a series of such projects. While Fantasian Neo Dimension is not on the same scale as the legendary Final Fantasy series, it serves as an important test for Square Enix to gauge interest among Xbox players. Developed by Mistwalker, known for creating the beloved Xbox titles Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, the game aims to attract a keen audience and is a step towards establishing a stronger presence on Microsoft’s consoles. This strategic shift highlights Square Enix's new vision for reaching a wider audience and aligning with the changing landscape of gaming, ensuring their titles are accessible to players no matter what system they choose.
